On January 12, 2010 the world stopped for Haiti., as the 7th most devastating earthquake in recorded history struck this, the poorest country in the western hemisphere. The death toll will never be fully known…but it will reach over 300,000 I believe.

I have left Haiti. For now…
I sit at my computer, thinking of what I have seen the last week, and what it all means. The suffering of those who remain is something that I pray will not be forgotten, passed over, as time continues on. The faces of those whose empty hollow eyes speak of a hunger much deeper than we can ever understand…these are part of the story of this country that must be remembered.

She is 14 years old. Beautiful. The horror of the last week stored within her heart, she is unable to let it out, unable to understand, unable to accept that only
she and her sister remain–the rest gone, lost in the quake. She is 14 years old. We brought her into surgery to clean her wounds, to try and close the deep cuts that had torn her apart. As she began to awaken, all of the pain began to pour out, to be released by the medicine that had been placed into her vein. “Mama, mama,
