Village Partners International supports programs that seek to improve the lives of people in both Haiti and Uganda. There are now programs in place that offer health, education, housing, clean water, and bring micro-industries to those who are most in need. Village Partners International’s motto is: Partnering to help people help themselves. The good news is that much has been accomplished and there are structures in place to feed children, house widows and bring medical care to those who would otherwise not have access to it. The heart-wrenching news is that there is still so much need. Just yesterday, I received an email from one of the doctors we work with in Haiti. In his words,” I think you have great ideas and a great plan for the hospital and also the community. As you know the community has serious problems and many people suffer with malnutrition.”

In three weeks, a medical team from the US will travel to Haiti to assist Dr. Miles and his team of dedicated doctors, nurses and staff and to bring medical supplies and much needed donations for the clinics. This is an example of the collaborative effort that VPI supports and includes teaching and learning exchanges as well as training and needs assessment. Those who travel represent countless generous supporters who have donated their time, talent and resources to allow us to relieve suffering in a place of great need and to offer hope in the midst of misery.
