I “discovered” Steven deep in Papoli village, where he was largely being neglected by the mother who was so distressed after the death of her husband who had been bed ridden for over 3 years.

Age: 1 year 7 months
Arrived at clinic: 27/05/2010
Weight on arrival date: 5.5 kgs (10lbs)
Weight now- 27/08/2010: 9.4kgs(19lbs)
Health conditions on arrival were: Steven had scabies, aedema, extended abdomen, brown hair and general body wasting.

Steven was collected by the safe house community workers the next day, 27Th May, 2010, put under intensive care and feeding, treated against worms and other poor health conditions. Steven has gained 4.9kgs, almost double his former weight, plays with other kids at the centre, enjoys his food, has lots of appetite AND most of all TESTED HIV NEGATIVE 2 TIMES!! The mother got the good news with a shock, for she had abandoned her baby thinking that it was also HIV positive like the father was!!…. Thanks be to GOD.
