Safe House Update

The number of kids now is 95, we have had to incorporate same basic treatment like malaria, diarrhea, wound dressing and de-worming.

We are experiencing amazing changes in the lives of kids, we take care…caring for these kids is an experience that has touched all our staff, a number of kids just after 10 days gain 2 lbs! They get brighter, skins better and some even after recovering keep coming. We are yet to get these kids test for HIV, some 12 had already tested, however our intervention takes care of all weak, malnourished kids. The mothers have also started small grades on the hospital land to support feeding – growing greens and sweet potatoes. We also plan to start basic nutrition classes for mother; we plan to construct a grass thatched shelter that will double up as class and dinning for kids (the number now over flows our available space).

Another development, we also started VCT in collaboration with ART clinic in Tororo general hospital, last week we managed to test 100 people out of 312 who came! (over 70% being women).

Respectively,

Emma.
