Thirst for Life

Have you ever been really thirsty? I mean really thirsty and so in need of water that your mouth is parched, your lips are cracked and the salt from your sweat runs into your eyes? The need to quench this thirst will drive you to find any source of water for you, for your children and for your crops.

A thirst this profound will drive you to drink murky, dirty water from the ground, even though you are aware it may contain cholera, typhoid, and other diseases. It will drive you to give dirty water to your children, knowing that this life giving liquid may also contain slow death.
Have you ever been this thirsty?

In the mountains of rural Haiti, near Mombin Crochu, the severe drought of the past six months has produced a gut wrenching thirst in the people who live there. As there are no wells, no clean water sources, and no boreholes, these desperate people are drinking water they know is unsafe for themselves and especially for their vulnerable children. In the past two months, twenty children have died in this area as a result of waterborne disease. Here, families have no choice but to continue this practice.

Village Partners International is partnering with Haitian village leaders and Living Waters for the World and Haiti Outreach Ministries to build wells in the areas that have been identified as most critically in need. Your donation to VPI can help us bring clean water to the children and families who now have none and, in so doing, bring hope and new life to people living in desperate need.
