Please indicate my thanks…my extreme thanks to Sylvia for her efforts in raising the money for us. I know we would not have been able to get nearly so far as we did had her moneys not been made available to us when they were. I can’t say thanks enough.
And, as to the prospect of Ms. Campbell helping us raise some more funds: we were not quite able to finish with the project when we were there in July so we are planning on sending a second, smaller group to follow up and finish around the first week of September. We are trying to raise about 3500.00 US which we feel like will be able to help us finish this project and then some and have it look nice and be something that they could take some pride in the appearance of. (e.g. we are going to tile the floors and bench tops so that they can be routinely sterilized. ) This is one of the things that we want to try to help instill in the kids…that they need to start learning how to keep their bathrooms clean and neat for when visitors come and need to use them. The thing is, if bathrooms look like the ones that you see in the clip I sent, they really don’t look like something that is asking to be kept up. That’s not event to mention the fact that these current latrine units are within about 25 feet of the cistern where the water supply is kept. This is a major sanitization no-no! We had had it as a plan to condemn the current ones fully and forever but we just ran out of time and money. Long and short: any help from Sylvia will be greatly welcomed with open arms.
