Gifts for Giving is a mission program of Village Partners International and the Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church administered through its Witness & Service session committee. It began six years ago with the idea of giving a gift to a loved one, while at the same time helping another.
We felt called to give a gift to people who needed what was given. Often times a gift would mean the difference between life and death to the one in need. We found our recipients in the small village in southeastern Uganda called Papoli. This was the result of Dr. Sylvia Campbell answering an e-mail cry for help from a 15 year old girl who was in desperate need of heart surgery unavailable in Uganda.
When this child was brought to the states for a successful surgery, we all fell in love with her and the people in her village. Thus the mission program was begun as a way for the village people to help themselves.
Gifts needed are listed here. You can give gifts in the name of a loved one that range from a single chicken, to a mosquito net, to a house for a widow and the orphans living with her, to sponsoring a college education for one of the many bright young people from the village through donations to the Wallof Scholars Program. To date we have helped five village young people graduate with honors from Ugandan universities. All have found productive employment.
All gift items will be delivered to Papoli, Uganda, and the gifts will be distributed to the villagers.
How the online purchase process works:
With each gift purchased, you will customize a Gift Voucher with the name of the recipient and a personal message, both of which will display on the Gift Voucher you will print for hand delivery or forward as an email attachment to your friend or loved one.
Here are the steps:
- Shop for a gift
- In the Voucher Recipient field, enter the name of your friend or loved one to whom you will donate the gift in their honor
- In the Voucher Message field, enter a personal message to your friend or loved one
- Click on the Add to Cart button
- You may add as many gift items to the cart as you would like
- Once you have finished shopping, click on the Checkout button
- You will then be redirected to PayPal for payment processing
- After completing the order, you will receive an email notification with a link to each Gift Voucher (PDF format) that you purchased
- You may print each Gift Voucher for hand delivery or send it as an email attachment
